Student Portfolio: Harmony in Diversity

Maria Laura Rojas, Isabel Cristina Jaimes, Maria Elena Fusco students of the Professional Master’s Degree in Interior Decoration at ESDESIGN, present their project, Armonía en La Diversidad

Harmony in Diversity is a project that addresses the design of a functional, welcoming and balanced home, conceived to support a growing family. Through a strategic reorganisation of the space, the layout is optimised to improve flow, enhance the entry of natural light and reinforce the connection between shared and private areas.

The proposal highlights the original essence of the home, preserving architectural elements such as ornamented ceilings, stained glass and mouldings. These coexist with a carefully selected range of natural materials —stone, wood and organic fibres— and a palette of neutral tones that bring calm, coherence and a timeless aesthetic to the overall space.

The project incorporates solutions adapted to new ways of living, such as a functional home office and a two-level playroom that encourages children’s creativity while maintaining visual control. An example of the type of practical and real projects developed in the online Professional Master’s Degree in Interior Decoration at ESDESIGN, where students learn to combine aesthetic sensitivity, functionality and spatial criteria to build a professional portfolio in interior decoration.
