Studen Portfolio: Re_Silla

Marcelo Coelho Barbosa, student of the Professional Master’s Degree in Product Design and Digital Modelling at ESDESIGN, presents his project, Re_Silla.

Re_Silla promotes responsible production and consumption with a 100% recyclable and disassemblable outdoor chair, reducing environmental impact. 

Focused on SDG 12 of the United Nations, the project promotes responsible production and consumption, decoupling economic growth from environmental degradation. The choice of High-Density Polyethylene addresses the low recycling rate of plastic. The project seeks to encourage conscious consumption through a 100% recyclable outdoor chair that uses 47.5 gallons of plastic and 120 aluminium cans. Disassemblable and efficiently packaged, it uses sustainable materials and FSC-certified packaging to reduce environmental impact. The chair challenges the perception of recycled products by offering higher added value, representing an innovative solution to environmental challenges and contributing to a more sustainable future.

This Master’s Final Project is one of the finalists in the ADI Awards 2024.
