The Review of the Master’s in Interior Decoration by Paulina Tenorio
Paulina Tenorio, a student of the Master’s in Interior Decoration, shares her review of her time at the School.
Tell us briefly about yourself.
My name is Paulina Tenorio and I am studying for a Master’s in Interior Decoration.
Why did you decide to take the Master’s at ESDESIGN?
Well, I saw the school’s reviews, and I really liked that it was entirely online. Why? Because it fits my lifestyle perfectly; I can adapt my schedule to attend classes and do the coursework. I think that was the main factor, but also, the fact that it’s a Master’s from Barcelona carried a lot of weight due to the city's rich design context.
Define ESDESIGN in three words.
Well, my experience at ESDESIGN in three words would be, first of all, challenging, because it’s a completely new discipline for me. My background is in something entirely different—marketing—and coming here to study what has always been my passion, and finding they have the patience and the wealth of information to help me develop something completely new in my life... honestly, that’s something I truly value. The next would be networking. I think meeting people from elsewhere and lecturers from Spain has contributed so much to me in these past months. And finally, flexibility, in terms of scheduling.
What doors has studying at ESDESIGN opened for you?
The doors that studying at ESDESIGN has opened for me involve getting information directly from people who work in the field and are currently active. I think that has contributed the most to my growth, and surely will continue to do so since I still have some way to go before I finish.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to study at ESDESIGN?
The advice I would give to someone wanting to study at ESDESIGN is, first of all, to be fully motivated. That always starts with oneself, but certainly, all the lecturers we meet along the way also push us to make things happen. So, that’s it. I think reaching a Master’s like this is a matter of attitude; it’s not just important to start, but to stay active and, obviously, finish with the best goal in mind: to learn and gain a different set of skills from when you began. You start as one person and end as someone completely different.
How is your experience at FESESDESIGN going?
Attending this event has been very important for me. I’ve come all the way from Mexico specifically for it. Why? To put a face to the school and overcome the limitations that being online can sometimes bring. Actually seeing the lecturers, your advisors, and some fellow students really gives you a different perspective and makes you connect much more with the school, the Master’s, and your final goal.
