Student Portfolio: Oculta, Oculta
Estefanía Rocha, student of the Professional Master’s Degree in Illustration and Animation at ESDESIGN, presents her project, Oculta, Oculta.
Oculta Oculta is a 2D animated short film with a surreal and fantastical tone that addresses a little-represented episode in Bolivian history: the military dictatorship of the 1970s. The work combines animation, Andean mythology and symbolic horror to build a narrative charged with emotion and collective memory.
Inspired by the myth of the Andean condor and the children’s game that gives the project its name, the short uses traditional animation, handmade textures and an expressive use of colour and sound to convey fear, silence and resistance. Each scene reinforces the dreamlike atmosphere and the psychological weight of the historical context.
This project reflects the educational approach of the Master’s, focused on the creation of animated pieces with discourse and visual coherence. The methodology allows the integration of narrative, technique and artistic experimentation. A process that results in professional portfolios prepared for the creative sector.
