Student Portfolio: Perro, Perro, ¿Qué está haciendo?

Natalia Arenas, student of the Professional Master’s Degree in Illustration and Animation at ESDESIGN, presents her project,

Perro, Perro, ¿Qué está haciendo?.

«Perro, Perro, ¿Qué está haciendo?» is a children’s illustrated book that addresses the abandonment and adoption of companion animals through a sensitive and accessible narrative. The project uses illustration as a tool for awareness, connecting with young readers through emotion and empathy.

The story follows Dustin, a stray dog who goes through experiences of rejection, fear and survival until finding a home. The visual style, inspired by traditional techniques and expressive line work, together with a carefully considered colour palette, reinforces the emotional weight of the story and supports the narrative rhythm of the text.

This Master’s Final Project reflects the approach of the online Professional Master’s Degree in Illustration and Animation at ESDESIGN, where students develop complete narrative projects, from concept and script to final illustration and animation. A programme designed to create stories with impact, build a strong professional portfolio and explore illustration as a means of communication and social transformation.
