Alejandro Magro, student of ESDESIGN, reflects on product design in the age of AI at Awakatech

Alejandro Magro, alumni from the Masters Degree in Editorial Design and Digital Publications at ESDESIGN, Barcelona's School of Design, part of Planeta Formación y Universidades, featured as a speaker at a new edition of Awakatech, the monthly event promoted by Mercadona Tech to foster knowledge exchange and networking among professionals within the digital ecosystem.
On this occasion, Magro delivered the keynote 'Anatomy of the Product Designer in the Age of AI', a talk addressing the challenges and transformations currently facing product design. Within this context—defined by Artificial Intelligence, maker culture, and the evolution of hybrid profiles—he explored the intersection of design, development, and business.
The gathering, held in a welcoming and participative atmosphere, brought together designers, developers, and product professionals interested in a critical and realistic understanding of the impact of AI on creative processes and digital construction. The session encouraged open debate and collective reflection, extending beyond the talk into a networking space that reinforced the event's community spirit.
The day also featured the participation of Emilio Carrión and served as the closing event for the 2025 Awakatech activity calendar, consolidating this format as a benchmark meeting point for sharing insights, experiences, and honest perspectives on the present and future of the tech sector.
Alejandro Magro’s participation in Awakatech reinforces ESDESIGN’s commitment to the professional projection of its alumni community and the active presence of its profiles in spaces that drive innovation, critical thinking, and dialogue regarding the major challenges of design and technology.
