ESDESIGN Ranks No. 1 in Financial Magazine’s Urban Planning and Interior Design Rankings
ESDESIGN, Escuela Sperior de Diseño de Barcelona, part of Planeta Formación y Universidades, has ranked first in two categories of the Financial Magazine ranking, updated in September 2026: Urban Planning, with the Online Master's in Landscaping and Sustainable Urbanism, and Interior Design, with its Master's in Interior Design. Both programs were already featured in these rankings in previous years and now top the table.
Landscaping and Sustainable Urbanism: from 8th place to first
The landscaping master's made its debut in this ranking in 2023, in eighth position in Urban Planning. In the September 2026 edition, it is number one in the category.
Financial Magazine highlights "a curriculum that covers ecological gardening, territorial analysis with QGIS, bioconstruction and landscape engineering, landscape design and urbanism, and concludes with a Master's Thesis that combines project and essay. It is aimed at profiles in architecture, agricultural and forestry engineering, environmental science, biology, geography or design."

Interior Design also leads its category
The second first place comes from interior design. ESDESIGN's Master's in Interior Design, which ranked 8th in 2022 and 6th in 2023, now heads the Top 10 of Master's Programs in Interior Design. The ranking praises its applied interior architecture approach, with an Autodesk license included, mentoring by working professionals and the additional specialization track in phygital design.
Fashion and Art and Design complete the picture
The school earns two further recognitions in the same edition. The Master's in Fashion Brand Creation and Business Management ranks in the Top 4 of Master's Programs in Fashion, a category in which ESDESIGN already appeared in 2022 and 2023. In addition, ESDESIGN ranks 7th in the ranking of Schools in Art and Design.
How the Financial Magazine ranking is compiled
Financial Magazine analyzes more than 400 institutions each year and publishes the top ten in each category. Its methodology combines official data and digital metrics in three phases: information gathering, validation with the institutions themselves, and classification based on objective indicators.
Each ranking focuses on its own criteria. In Urban Planning, the weight falls on the program's reputation, graduate employability, faculty experience and collaborations with public and private organizations. In Interior Design, the criteria include faculty track record, professional internships, job placement and the integration of emerging technologies. Results are published twice a year, in April and September.
These results add to that of the Master's in Digital Graphic Design, which this year has once again ranked first in its category in the El Mundo Online Master's Ranking 2026, for the third consecutive year. ESDESIGN is also the only design-specialized institution included in that edition.
