Laura Meseguer receives a special mention at the ‘Ciutat de Barcelona’ Awards for ‘Recipes for Connecting’
Laura Meseguer, a lecturer on the Lifelong Learning Master's Degree in Editorial Design and Digital Publications at ESDESIGN, Barcelona School of Design — an institution part of Planeta Formación y Universidades — has received a special mention in the ‘Ciutat de Barcelona’ 2024 Awards, within the Design and Fashion category, for her exhibition and publication ‘Recipes for Connecting’.
The recognition was granted by a jury consisting of Óscar Guayabero (Chair), Charo Mora, Rosa Pera, Ricardo Campos, and Esther Agustench, who highlighted the proposal for its innovative approach and its ability to bring together local and international creators through a project of high conceptual and graphic quality, developed from a close and human scale.
‘Recipes for Connecting’, produced alongside Anja Lutz, proposes a reflection on design as a tool for connection and dialogue, articulating a network of collaborations that cross disciplines, cultures, and perspectives. The jury particularly valued the way the project builds community through editorial design, committing to collaborative processes and meticulous formal execution.
This recognition reinforces ESDESIGN’s commitment to the academic and professional excellence of its faculty, as well as to the promotion of projects that understand design as a cultural practice with social impact. We celebrate Laura Meseguer’s work and her contribution to a contemporary, critical, and connected vision of editorial design.

More than ever, studying Editorial Design means opening new perspectives on the reality of the publishing market. You will work on identity, hierarchy, art direction, typography, and composition through editorial design, the discipline that brings all areas of graphic design together.
Editorial design is 100% graphic design, from selecting and designing typography for a project to delivering final artwork, including decisions around imagery, illustration, and layout composition.
Through our programme in editorial design and digital publishing, you will gain hands-on experience with industry-standard software and develop advanced skills across all its tools, for both print and digital applications.
By approaching editorial projects as a whole, you will acquire the knowledge needed to access new publishing markets based on digital formats, as well as print production. You will explore emerging editorial platforms, digital kiosks, and the production of electronic, interactive, and virtual magazines.
